You're welcome to Carlos: Manchester United fans hit back with their own cheeky Tevez poster

It was the poster that sent rivalry between United and City fans to a new level.

But United fans have got their own back on City by hijacking their famous 'Welcome to Manchester' poster of Carlos Tevez.

The original was put up by Blues' fans after the former United star joined City.

It was a dig at the fact the Reds' home is outside the city boundaries of Manchester.

Now the Manchester United Supporters' Trust has turned the tables – by adapting the original in the light of Tevez' astonishing behaviour in Munich this week.

The new version shows the Argentina player, who allegedly refused to come on as a substitute, sitting defiantly on a bench with the caption: "Welcome to Carlos, Manchester."

It is now being beamed onto a giant electronic billboard in Piccadilly Gardens.

Duncan Drasdo, from the MUST, said: "It is just meant to be a bit of fun. The original City banner was quite cheeky. This is our chance to get our own back."

The trust includes a number of high-flying ad men, including president Richard Hytner - deputy chair of Saatchi & Saatchi.

But Mr Drasdo, who refused to say who paid for the electronic advert, said 'a large number of the group's members' had been behind the idea.

He added: "There are a lot of very talented individuals who are involved with the trust. This was our response to what has been happening at City this week."

Tevez's future at the Etihad Stadium hangs in the balance after the clash during City's 2-0 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old – who denies he refused to play - has been suspended for two weeks pending a review by the club.
