Pesta Buku Antarabangsa 2011

Pesta Belon Udara Panas 2011

Cantik kata anak-anak saya.

Hi Hj Ahmad

Good meeting up with you during the MPKj Budget Dialogue.

As I have promised, see following message I posted last year on SV residents' forum:

==================================================

This information about "Pasukan Keselamatan Kejiranan" programme extracted from NST should encourage residents to support SV Resident Association.

"MBPJ enforcement director Mohd Fauzi Maarop said RAs and RTs registered with the council will be given RM5,000 on a yearly basis under the Pasukan Keselamatan Kejiranan programme, previously called Community Policing. He said to register, RAs and RTs must submit their application stating the interest for the fund through their area councillor. RAs and RTs must also be registered under the Department of National Unity."

I spoke to MPKj Councillor, Chandran Mohan (019-3587003), and he said they have proposed to have this allocation in this year's budget. That means that if this is approved, registered RAs in Kajang will be getting a "Community Policing" fee next year (2013).

Simplify guarded-community application process
http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/02SPGUA/Article/art_print   By Sheila Sri Priya

2011/04/26

PETALING JAYA: Residents are asking for a simpler process to get the guarded community approval from the local council and to waive the RM200 application fee. The matter was raised during the briefing on guarded community organised by the Petaling Jaya city council (MBPJ) attended by 20 residents associations (RA) and rukun tetangga (RT) heads on Sunday at the community library at Jalan Selangor.

At the briefing, the resident leaders were told to submit applications to the MBPJ Planning and Development department of their intentions to have a guarded community and its whereabouts.

MBPJ director of Planning and Development Noraini Roslan said all guarded communities must meet certain requirements.

In the first stage, RAs must submit seven copies of the floor and building plan showing where the boom gates, security beat and other barriers will be placed.

They're encouraged to engage a professional to do the plans. Residents can seek assistance from the council for a sample of a suitable building plan.

A list of residents supporting the guarded community proposal with details such as photocopies of the residents' identity cards and signatures are required.

There is a processing fee of RM200. RAs must submit an application for the temporary building permit for their existing guard house.

Upon receiving MBPJ's approval for the building and floor plans, the RAs must submit their proposal for Temporary Occupancy Licence (TOL) from the Petaling Land Office with complete details of their security company to the council.

Noraini said the council recognises the need for guarded community. However, she said safety measures must not be compromised. "All guarded communities must be accessible to fire engines, ambulances, police and other enforcement authorities. The guard house must look presentable.

Noraini said the council will study all the applications carefully to avoid future problems.

"When the council gives the approval to a community, it has to be accountable if anything goes wrong," she said.

All Petaling Jaya, Selangor Residents Association Coalition president Johan Tung said the application fee for the guarded community application of RM200 must be waived or reduced.

On a separate matter, MBPJ enforcement director Mohd Fauzi Maarop said RAs and RTs registered with the council will be given RM5,000 on a yearly basis under the Pasukan Keselamatan Kejiranan programme, previously called Community Policing .

He said to register, RAs and RTs must submit their application stating the interest for the fund through their area councillor.

RAs and RTs must also be registered under the Department of National Unity.

Tung welcomed the council's move to allocate RM5,000 to each RA or RT annually, but felt the amount was too little and should be increased.

"The council has an allocation of RM260 million for security in this year's budget. But the residents will only be getting about RM1million for the community policing. I hope more can be given to the residents," said Tung.

He also requested the council to fix more CCTVs in the city.

Fauzi said the money can be used to buy torchlights or items that can be used to safeguard the neighbourhood.

He said there are 108 RAs and 48 RTs registered with the council.

School gets new chairs and roof thanks to 1MDB

KUALA LUMPUR: The Parent-Teacher Association of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Jalan Imbi has been running short of funds to carry out its activities over the past few years.

Its chairman, Law Seah Keong, said they carried out a lot of fund-raising activities, but the amount was never enough to meet their needs.

The PTA's plight received a helping hand when the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) launched a special fund to assist PTAs in carrying out their activities.

It was one of the 11 PTAs selected for the Dana PIBG pilot programme that was launched by 1MDB yesterday.

The RM20 million fund will be used to help eligible PTAs from government and government-assisted schools nationwide.

Law said the financial assistance they would receive would be used to change the 40-year-old tables and chairs in the canteen and to repair the roof along the walkway.

"If there are excess funds, we will use it to buy some computers."

1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin said studies done by the organisation showed that the main problems faced by PTAs were lack of funds to improve school facilities and to conduct extra classes.

"Dana PIBG wants to help by providing a platform for PTAs to carry out their projects effectively.

"We hope that the fund can lighten the PTAs' fundraising burden so they can focus on planning for programmes that will benefit students in the long run."

The fund is open to both primary and secondary schools. PTAs of primary schools can apply for up to RM30,000 and secondary schools up to RM50,000.

"To apply for the fund, PTAs will have to come up with a detailed proposal describing their needs.

"The fund has to be used for educational activities, co-curriculum activities or minor infrastructure development," Lodin added.

Law was delighted to receive the assistance as it would help ease the PTA's financial burden.

"The government is doing the right thing by looking at the plight of people at the ground level," the father of four said.
